Darrel Van Citters owns his own animation studio. His career began an artist at Disney feature animation. The story about how he left Disney, why he left and what happened after, which lead to him owning his own animation studio is a part of the conversation we have in this recording.
Not only that but Darrel is also an author. He wrote a book on The Art of Jay Ward. The story about how that came about is something we also talk about.
If you don’t know who Jay Ward is, he’s the producer of Rocky and Bulwinkle. We talk about the show’s production and art, which believe it or not, was animated in Mexico.
Sit back and enjoy, this is a fun conversation.

The Corner Booth guys debate!
Luis is a HUGE Superman nerd. He thinks Superman is better than Batman, and he talks about why.
Superman animation has a history of defining and changing the character of Superman. Superman couldn’t fly until he did so in the Fleischer shorts for instance.
The Corner Booth guys get together to discuss, Superman, among many other things. Larry’s love of another Fleischer character, Popeye, also gets thrown into the mix. That’s when sparks start flying.
Popeye vs. Superman?
Join The Corner Booth guys as they enjoy a meal, a debate and a lot of fun banter. This is what it sounds like when animators simply have a conversation over dinner.
